Abstract:
The objective of this research was to develop mathematical model forbiomass distibution prediction in sludge blanket of anaerobic hybrid reactor at anygas production rate. Model was formulated base on the motion of particle throughfluid by applying Newton's law. To model, biomass was considered as small particlewhich moved upward from bed to blanket due to its gas production. Mathematicalequations were developed to express the motion of biomass particle. There were twogroups of adjusted parameters in these sets of equation that were gas yield and gasparticleseparation probability. MATLAB program was used for model calculation.The calculation results showed that this model could partly represent biomassconcentration profile. The model provided the same trend of biomass concentrationprofile but the prediction of particle size distribution was not pretty good. In addition,the results from the model were not verified with experiment.
