Abstract:
Background: Acne vulgaris is the most common dermatological disease. Even though ace is found at any age, but it mainly affect to adolescents and young adults. Acne lesions are categorized into non-inflammatory and inflammatory acne. There are many choices for acne treatment currently.
Objectives: To evaluate efficacy of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) in treatment of facial acne valgaris
Materials and Methods: Ten male or female volunteers with mild to moderate acne evaluate by Global Acne Severity Scale (GASS) were enrolled in the study. Age of subjects was between 20-29 years. All volunteers were assigned to the treatment with High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) with 2 transducer including 1.5 mm and 3.0 mm in same parameter. The efficacy of treatment were assessed at each follow-up visit at 3 and 6 weeks
Results: Facial acne count in compare between baseline and after session of 6 weeks treatment found the decline in black comedone, white comedone, papule and pustule. The result showed that improvement was found in all type of facial acne count with statistic significant (p< 0.05). Sebum level was also decrease with statistical significant.
Conclusion: High intensity focused ultrasound treatment is effected for improvement of facial acne vulgaris count and sebum level within 6 weeks
