Coupling products of the selected phenolics for sunscreen foundation prototype

Abstract: Phenolics are versatile in health promotions and cosmetic benefits including their photoprotectant activities. Accordingly, phenolics are currently of interest substantively to those of commonly used UV absorbers, especially ferulic acid and caffeic acid, the hydroxycinnamic acids. The coupling products of ferulic and caffeic including sinapic acids, the homologues phenolics, were selected and were exhibited with the appointed UV absorptions better than the benchmark sunscreens BP-3 and OMC. These coupling products were physiochemically and chemically stable. All the phenolic couples have better SPF than OMC and BP-3. The stable base foundation was developed and incorporated with the selected coupling products at 2%. The foundations containing the phenolic couples were proven stable. The phenolic couple products were evidenced to boost up the SPF up to 169-312% from the base foundation. The preference test examined in 20 panelists towards liquid foundations containing the selected phenolics couple was satisfied. Therefore, these coupling products of the phenolic can be appointed as promising candidates for different dosage form of sunscreen.
