Abstract:
The objectives; of this research were to study the current situation of the computerinstructors requirement for the private secondary schools in Bangkok during 1998 - 2002 in termsof both quantity required and appropriate qualifications together with problems and obstacles oftbe computer instruction, The research methodology employed distribution of the questionnaireto 86 random samples from computer instructors and heads of computer instructors in secondaryschools. The returned questionnaire of 84.88% was analyzed by percentages, Arithmetic meanand standard deviation techniques.The research found that the majority of the computer instructors were female between25 to 35 years of age with 1 to 5 years experience in computer instruction. They wereundergraduates but not in the field of computer academy. They gained their wntputer knowledgeand skill by studying from textbooks and articles or attending training courses and seminars.Most of computer instructors conducted the classes by practical exercise and drill withinstruction aids. Most of instruction aids were are developed prepared by the instructors. Fromthe current situation, the t-uter instnrctom needed the improvement of inseuction aids andlesson contents respectively.The private secondary schools in Bangkok required Bachelor Degree graduates in thefield of computer education at the number of 27 instructors as of 50% of the total requirements.The qualifications of computer instructors required for 1998-2002 composed of basic knowledgein computer system and computer assisted Instruction design respectively. The computercompetency and skill requlired were technology update, come correspondence, and ability toprovide computer devices maintenance respectively.The problems found in computer instruction were human resources. Most ofcomputer instructors were not computer graduates.For the instruction , the research found that students English basic knowledge lackobstructed the computer instruction because most computer technical terms were in English.
