Abstract:
This research was concerned with the efficiency of packed cage RBC system for treatingwastedwater containing chlorine, The ecperiments were carried out in laboratory scale packed cage RBC system. The system was consisted of 43 litres cylindrical reactor and packed cagedrum which has 40 % of voume that submersed in wastewater. The media which was packed inthe drum was polyethylene square ring type, The total surface area of media was 12.67 mกำลัง2. Therotary speed was 3 rpm. The synthetic wastewater was prepared at the COD concentration of 400mg/L and chlorine concentration of 0, 5, 10, and 20 mg/L. The hydraulic retention time (HRT)was 8, 12, and 16 hours, respectively. The results showed that the highest removal efficiencies of the system with non-chlorinecontaining wastewater were shown at the HRT of 16 hrs. It meant that the highest COD,BODand TKN removal efficiencies of 95.45%,91.75%and47.44%, respectively were show at BODloading of 0.6 gBPD/L-day. For the 5 mg.L chlorine containing wastewater, the highest COD,BOD and TKN revoval effieiencies of 85.84%,83.35%and45.64%, respectively were show atHRT of 16 hrs, It meant that the BOD loading and chlorine loading were of the system 0.6gBOD/L-day and 7.5 mg cholorine.L-day, respectively. For the highest chlorine containingwastewater(20 mg/L cholorine), the highest COD, BOD and TKN removal efficiencies of 67.20%, 63.46%and26.95%, respectively were shows at BOD loading and chlorine loading of0.6 gBOD/L-day and 30mg/L-dayIt could beconcluded that chlorine could effect to the efficiencies of the system. A 5 mg/L ofchlorine in the wastewater could reduce the BOD removal efficency about 5%, And also theremoval effiencies of chlorine system were decreased with increase of the chlorineconcentration in wastewater.
