Abstract:
The objectives of this thesis are twofold. Firstly, it aims to study the condition of morale and job satisfaction among the instructors of private colleges and state universities. Secondly, it is aimed at the factor which influence the level of morale and job satisfaction among the said instructors. The emphasis is on the behavioral aspects of moral and job satisfaction. Questionnaire is used as the method for collecting data. It contains 48 questions and is divided into 2 categories: (1) personal information and. (2) morale and job satisfaction including opinions concerning the performance. Since the population of the four private colleges (Bangkok College, College of Commerce, College of Business Administration and Assumption Business Administration College) involves 272 instructors , the stratified random sampling method is employed in the process of sampling selection. Fifty percent of the population is randomly selected by this method. With regards to the instructor of state universities, the population that is chosen to study is of Chulalongkorn University and Thammasart University. Since the population of the two universities respectively involves 2033 instructors and 502 instructors, the stratified random sampling method s employed in the process of sampling selection. Only 12.5 percent and 21.9 percent of the total population of the two universities is randomly selected this method. Statistical analysis of the data including the application of airthmatic mean, median and graphic scales. The finding of this study are as follows: 1. Morale and job satisfaction among the 110 instructors of the private colleges is moderate ( 35 case are rated high , 56 case are rated moderate ans19 case are rated low ) 2. The important factor which influences high level of the morale and job satisfaction are coworkers and quantity of work. Conversely, factors cause the low level of morale job satisfaction among them are opportunity for advancement and security. 3. Morals and job satisfaction among the 224 instructors of the state universities is relatively high . (85 cases are rated high, 105 cases are rated moderate and 34 sample are rated low) 4. Factors which are resulted in the high level of morale and job satisfaction among the instructors of the state universities is quantity of work. On the other hand, factors which cause the low level of morale and job satisfaction are supervisors, salary, and fringe benefits. 5. Morale and job satisfaction, with respect to the influencing factor, among the instructors of the private colleges is classified into 3 categories: 5.1 The nature of work category. Morale and job satisfaction is relatively high. 5.2 Working environment condition category. Morale and job satisfaction is relatively high. 5.3 Salary and fringe benefits category. Morale and job satisfaction is moderate 6. Morale and job satisfaction, with respect to the influencing factors, among the instructors of the state university is also classified into 3 categories : 6.1 The nature of work category. Morale and job satisfaction is relatively high. 6.2 Working environmental conditions category. Morale and job satisfaction is relatively high 6.3 Salary and fringe category. Morale and job satisfaction is relatively low. 7. Opinions of the instructor in the private colleges concerning problems of work are opportunity for advancement and security. 8. Opinions of the instructors in the state university concerning problems of work are supervisors, salary and fringe benefits.
