Abstract:
The studies were concerned on the efficiencies of sequencing batch reactor systein (SBR) for treating cool storage factory wastewater that contaminated with chlorine at various concentrations. The experiments were carried out in SBR system with synthetic wastewater that contained COD as the concentration of 2,000 mg/l and chlorine as the concentration of 0, 5, 10 and20 mgll under the HRT conditions of 1, 3, 5, 8 and 10 days. The experiments were also carried out with wastewater from cool storage plant that contained 10 ingll of chlorine. The results showed t3at at the HRT of 3, 5, 8 and 10 days, the SBR systein could treat the synthetic wastewater that contained chlorine at the concentrations of 5, 10 and 20 mg/l with high reinoval efficiencies. The COD, BOD, and TKN reinoval efficiencies of the system were 96.05%, 98.1 1% and 92.55%, respectively. But the efficiency of the SBR systein under HRT of 1 day was quite low. However, under HRT of 1 day, the system showed highest removal efficiencies when the wastewater contained chlorine at the concentration of 10 ingll. The COD, BOD, and TKN removal efficiencies of system under HRT of 1 day and chlorine concentration of 10 mgll were 95.27%, 96.90% and 86.20%, respectively. And also, the SBR systein could treat the wastewater from the cool storage plant that contained 10 mgll of chlorine with high efficiency. At the HRT of 3, 5 and 10 days, the COD, BOD, and TKN reinoval efficiency were 96.68%, 98.36% and 96.92%, respectively. It could be concluded that, SBR system could be used for treating the wastewater from cool storage plant contained chlorine as the concentration up to 20 mgll under HRT of not lower than 3 days. Due to the results above, It could say that the SBR system could be operated with high removal efficiency underCOD loading and Cl, loading of 0.667 g CODA-day and 6.667 mg C1,/1-day, respectiyely.
