Abstract:
The aims of this research were: 1) to study the promotion of virtues and ethics in schools under the Office of Primary Education Service Area 2, Ubonratchathani province; 2) to compare the promotion mentioned; 3) to study the suggestions and ways of such promotion in the studied schools. This study used the mixed research methodologies: for the quantitative research, the samples were 283 of the administrators and teachers, selected by Krejcie and Morgans methods of stratified random sampling and simple random sampling. The tool in this process was a five rating scale questionnaire which was used to find the statistical values of Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation. For the qualitative research, the interview form was used to interview 10 key informants before the data obtained were analyzed by the descriptive analysis.
The research results were as follows:
1) The statistical scores of the promotion of virtues and ethics in the studied schools in overall and each aspect perspectives were at a high level; the highest can be seen in the aspect of sufficiency, followed by that of honesty and virtues and ethics; the least was of responsibility.
2) Based on the comparison, the statistical scores of such promotion, classified by the samples positions were indifferent; this denied the hypothesis determined. The aspects of worthiness showed the differences of the practices with the statistical significance level of .05; the scores of other aspects were indifferent.
3) The suggestions and ways of such promotion in the studied schools were that in the aspect of virtues and ethics; the schools should promote the conducts according to the laws, cultures and traditions; the law of governmental employees or religions should be applied in the schools. In the aspect of gratitude, the schools should have self-assessment according the reality based on the transparency; the corporation at work should be improved by honesty development. In the aspect of sufficiency, the schools should open the opportunity to the community and stakeholders to participate in making a decision in administration; all should be given right to raise their opinions for the harmony of the community. In the aspect of responsibility, the schools should realize the rights of their works.
