Abstract:
The objectives of the study were to investigate the relationships among creative thinking, mental abilities in symbolic content, and mathematics learning achievement of mathayomsuksa one students. The samples were 412 mathayomsuksa one students in the academic year 1981 from public schools in Bangkok Metropolis. The following instruments : the Minnesota Test of Creative Thinking, the Mental Abilities in Symbolic Content Test, and the Mathematics Learning Achievement Test were administered to the samples. The obtained data were analyzed by means of Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient, Multiple correlation, and Multiple Regression Equation. The results of the analysis indicated that : 1. There was significant positive correlation between creative thinking and mathematics learning achievement at the level of 0.05. 2. There was significant positive correlation between mental abilities in symbolic content and mathematics learning achievement at the level of 0.05. 3. There were significant positive multiple correlation between creative thinking, mental abilities in symbolic content, and mathematics learning achievement at the level of 0.05. 4. Multiple regression techniques revealed that scores on the Mathematics Learning achievement Test (Y) of each mathayom suksa one student were predicted by scores on the Minnesota Test of Creative Thinking (X₁) and the Mental Abilities in Symbolic Content Test (X₂). The regression equations of raw scores and standard scores were as follows : Yc = 4.6123347+0.0288467 X₁+0.5770561 X₂ Zc = 0.0491326 Z₁+0.2656623 Z₂
