Abstract:
This project was to study the characteristics of traff~cn oise in the uninterrupted flowconditions on the six major highway surrounding the city of Bangkok, namely, Bangkok Noi -Nakhonchaisri (Putamontol), Suphanburi - Bangbouthong, Phahonyothin, Suwinthawong,Bangna - Trad and Thonburi - Parkthow (Praram 2). Data collection consisted of noiselevel in Leq (dBA), traffic volume and traffic combination, and average spot speed of eachgroup of vehicles. Geometric dimension of highway sections were also measmd. Trafficnoise, volume, and traffic speed were collected in the simultaneous basis for 1 hour period. This data was then used to generate the mathematic model for predicting the tr*c noiselevel. The u.s.'s FHWA model was used as the base model for developing of the moreefficiency highway traffic noise model for Thailand. The modification was applied through theimprovement of Reference Energy Mean Emission Lmel for each group of vehicles and thecoefficients of the model. The efficiency of model was tested against the measuring field databy using the statistical method of dimentianal graphic method.
