Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to analyse teacher-pupil interaction and pre-schoolers social behaviors, and to compare them among kindergartens and child centers in Bangkok Metropolis. The third purpose was to study relationship between teacher-pupil inter and pre-schooolers social behavior. The subjects were 28 teachers and 280 pupils age 4 6 in 28 Bangkok kindergartens and child centers agencies under the auspices of the Office of National Primary Education Commission, Office of the Private Education Commission. Office of Universities Affairs, Department of Teacher Education, Department of Religious Affairs, and the National Council of Women of Thailand. The instruments used in this research were teacher-pupil interaction behavior pattern composed of 42 item, modified from Flanders Interaction Analysis Category, and pre-schools social behavior pattern included 26 items. Data were collected by observing and recording. In analysing data, the researcher find out percentage of frequency, variance and relationship between teacher-pupil interaction and pre-schools behaviors, by using computer program SPSS ( Statistical Package for Social Science) in subprogram ANONA and Crosstabulation. Results : According to teacher-pupil interaction behavior, the teachers always talked, explained, summarized, told, demonstrated guided and ordered the pupils directly and indirectly. The pupils responded to the teachers by verbal and non-verbal behaviors. Besides, some teachers behaviors such as asking questions without waiting for answer, blaming, treating, criticising, silence and confusing, occured in moderate level. Behavior that never occurred was pupils aggression. When analizing the variance of interaction between kindergartens and child centers, it found that the statistically significant differences at .05 level were the pupils ignored behavior to the teachers order. They responded in negative way including crying, begging asking and accusing themselves by nonverbal and verbal behaviors. Pupils social behaviors mostly happened, were playing and chatting with peer. Besides, some behaviors such as ordering, telling. Persuading, boasting, betting, helping others and playing occured in moderate level. Behaviors which rarely occurred were self guilty acceptance and praising friends. Comparing kindergartens to child centers, pupils behaviors which maintained variance significant differences at P < .05 were hurting each other, talking or joking and playing with others. Finding relationship between teacher-pupil interaction and pupils social behaviors, 19 pairs of them were significantly related at .05 level. Others were negative.
