Abstract:
The objective of the research is to study a comparison of preschool children reading readiness in learning word configuration through didactic games and work sheets. The samples were forty preschool students of school under Bangkok Education Office of the academic year 1989. The students were devided into two groups, 20 as experimental group and another 20 as control group. The experimental group practiced by using didactic games, whereas the control group practiced by using work sheets. In each group, was five preschool students in high, ten middle and five low level of visual discriminating ability and they were match by pair. The finding were as follow: the post-test mean score in reading readiness in learning word configuration of the experimental group practiced by using didactic games were higher than that of the controlled group practiced by using work sheets at the .05 level of significance. There were no significant differences at the .05 level among the post-test means scores in reading readiness in learning word configuration of students in high, middle and low level of discriminating ability in experimental group practiced by using didactic games. There were significant differences at the .05 level among the post-test means scores in reading readiness in learning word configuration of students in high, middle and low level of visual discrimination ability in controlled group practiced by using work sheets. The post-test mean scores of the students in high level of visual discriminating ability was higher than those of the students in low level of visual discriminating ability at the .05 level of significance but there were no significant differences at the .05 level among of students in high and middle middle and low level of visual discriminating ability in controlled group practiced by using work sheet.
