A guideline study for development plan due to expansion of the higher educational institutes : a case study of Bang Kuan /community in Amphoe Khlong Luang, Changwat Pathum Thani
Abstract:
The objectives of this study was to explore the existing situation of the area which the higher educational institutes located, the way of life of students and staff and to propose the guidelines for development plan in the area Sukhapibal Prachatipat-Khlong Luang, Changwat Pathum Thani which has Bang Khan community as a service center for the institutes. These institutes are Rangsit College, Bangkok University, Thammasat University, Asian Institute of Technology and Pechaburi wittayalongkorn teacher's college. From the survey, it was found that most of students and staff lived in Bangkok and usually traveled to institutes by ordinary buses. The problems they faced are about pollution from factories, travelling and crossing Phaholyothin Road, some utilities and unsatisfied shopping. Students, staff and people said that when the institutes were established, there were changing in physical, economical and social aspects in the area of vicinity. People would like their community to be more developed, especially a group of new livings. For the higher educational institutes-and the community to be supported each other, a aspects were proposed:- 1) Guidelines for land use planning ; which are higher educational land use ; commercial land use, especially in Bang Khan community ; industrial land use which should be in the two major area, according to existing condition ; residential land use which should be within 5 km. from Bang Khan community center ; and agricultural land use around the community which should be preserved as much as possible for the good environment in the community which has industry as an .important role. 2) Improving of infrastructure such as transportation and some utilities. 3) Maintaining good environment in the community which has some problems from factories and transportation. Finally, it should be included, 4) Regarding of some social problems which may have some influences to the community and higher educational institutes. Besides this, in order to compromise between higher educational institutes, industries and agriculture which are important in the area, the institutes or new higher educational institutes should consider the policy of the institutes of industrial technology or/and agricultural industry.
