Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to investigate, firstly, howfar the technique,of using muppets could be used to promote students'self-confidence in speaking English, and secondly, what the students'attitudes towards the technique of using muppets in speaking practiceare.The subjects were 4 students, randomly picked out from theclass of Mattayom Suksa 3/l at the Islamic College of Thailand. Theinstruments used for gathering data were olxervation, questionnaire,semi-structured interview and teacher's diary.There were four activities carried out in the study. Muppetswere applied twice, i.e. as the second and the third activities. Theresults of the 1st and the 4th activities were compared to find anydifference between the students' development.The findings are:1. The technique of using muppets could promote students'self-confidence in speaking English to a considerable extent.2. The students have highly positive attitudes towards: thetechnique of using muppets in speaking English.
