Health Behavior and Health Promotion in population aged 15-59 year at risk of developing type II Diabetes; Situation, Community Participation for Prevention and Problem Solving. ค
Abstract:
Quantitative and Qualitative research were to prevention health behaviors, health promotion in population aged 15-59 year at risk of developing type II Diabetes relatively problems for prevention and performed eleven villages, stakeholders in Northern Thailand. Aimed to find problem and solutions to prevention health behavior before people with type II diabetes by the involvement of the community. Purposive sampling is a sample for selecting participants. Inclusion criteria focused thirty - six peoples who leaders community organization. Quantitative data were used questionnaires, health behaviors assessment, behavior for promoting the health and including frequency and percentages for described in terms. The semi-structure selection interview and focus groups were conducted to collecting qualitative data. Triangulation and data reflections were used to validate the data. This study used simple random sampling in population aged 15-59 years. The collecting qualitative data were analyzed and interpreted in separate phases follow content analysis.
The results were as follows: First, participants of perception type II diabetes due to heredity, it was chronic illness related with self-health care behavior. Second, major problems of communities health behaviors related poor diet control and lacked of exercises, however participants have moderate levels knowledge scores for preventive health behaviors type II diabetes and behavior for promoting the health(M = 2.48, SD = .80,M = 2.49, SD = .80 respectively ).Third, they needed health care providers support them adoption of health risk behavior. Finally, participation in community problem solving was conducted people who risk type II diabetes, that health care providers facilitate project management to community, community participant keys ideas.
Conclusion and Discussion: Type II diabetes can be attributed prevention and problem solving by cooperation of stakeholders. Public health policy and community institution have context information for improve health care plans and develop for prevention type II diabetes.
