Relationship between opinions concerning leadership behaviors of the nursing administrators and organization climate of The Nursing College Division, Ministry of Public Health
Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to study the opions concerning leadership behaviors of the nursing administrators and the organization climate of the nursing college division, Ministry of public Health. The research also covered the studies of the relationship between the opions concerning leadership behaviors of the nursing administrators and the organization climate types of the nursing college division, Ministry of Public Health. The selected samples were one hundred and ninety two nursing instructors from ten nursing colleges under the auspices of the nursing college division, Ministry of Public Health in Thailand. The research instruments were two sets of questionnaires. One set of the Questionnaires was modified from the LBDQ(Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire) by Andrew W. Halpin, and the other was modified from the OCDQ (Organization Climate Description Questionnaire) by Halpin & Croft. The analysis of the data was based on various statistical methods namely the mean, the standard diviation, the standard T Score. the Pearson product moment coefficient and the Spearman rank method. The Majors Findings: 1. The leadership behaviors, both the initiating structure and the consideration behavior of the nursing administrators were generally at the medium level. Therefore the hypothesis was not accepted. 2. The organization climate of the nursing college division, Ministry of Public Health was the Open type. Therefore the hypothesis was not accepted. 3. There was negative relationship between the initiating structure and the disengagement, the hindrance, and the aloofness at the .01 statistical significant level. However, there was positive relationship between the initiating structure and the esprit, the product emphasis, the thrust, and the consideration at the .01 statistical significant level and at the .05 statistical significant level with only the intimacy. Therefore the hypothesis was remained. 4. There was negative relationship between the consideration behavior and the disengagement, the hindrance, and the aloofness at the .01 statistical significant level. However, there was positive relationship between the consideration behavior and the esprit, the thrust, and the consideration at the .01 statistical significant level. Therefore the hypothesis was remained. It also revealed that the relationship between the consideration behavior and the intimacy, and the product emphasis were not existed. Therefore the hypothesis was not accepted. 5. There was positive relationship between the initiating structure of the nursing administrators and the six organization climate types at the .05 statistical significant level. Therefore the hypothesis was remained. It also revealed that the relationship between the consideration behavior and the six organization climate types was not existed. Therefore the hypothesis was not accepted.
