Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to 1) study teaching model using community-based learning in local product design course 2) develop the teaching model using community-based learning in local product design course. The methodology of this research comprised with 4 main parts: Purposive sampling is applied with 4 groups of sample, including; 1) teaching specialists in Local product design 2) designer specialises in community product design 3) community leaders and 4) students in local product design course. This research uses questionnaire, observation form and field record as tool for data collecting. For the development of teaching model using community-based learning, three experts in teaching of product design have commented and improved the teaching model using community-based learning in local product design course. The study teaching model based on the concept of learning communities that can break the pattern of teaching that: 1) By the context of the community's urban and rural communities, 2) By period. Which consisted of short, medium and long term 3) The location of the school, including University in Bangkok and its vicinity. Universities and provincial 4) By partnership with the community, including collaboration with specialized knowledge, collaboration and knowledge sharing and design community. The development of a model taught by the learning base community has six elements, including community college students, faculty, content, design, create, and has five steps: 1) preparation, 2) the community, 3) Design 4). to create jobs, and 5) evaluation.
