Abstract:
This thesis is to convert carbonmonoxide and hydrogen gas to gasoline range hydrocarbons in fixed bed by using iron catalyst and iron ZSM 5 zeolite catalyst. There are two different ZSM 5 zeolite catalysts ; Mobils ZSM 5 zeolite catalyst and ZSM 5 zeolite catalysts ; which is prepared for the experiments. The experiments are conducted with the condition of H2 : CO = 1: 1, temperature of 220, 250, 280 and 310 °C, space velocity of 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 hr-1 and pressure of 10 and 20 atmosphere. The results show that conversion of syngas increases by increasing temperature and pressure but decreases by increasing space velocity. The composition of gasoline range in hydrocarbon increases by increasing temperature and pressure. The iron ZSM 5 zeolite catalyst gives gasoline range in hydrocarbon more than the iron catalyst when temperature is above 250 °C . The condition to produce the highest percent of gasoline range in hydrocarbon is temperature of 310 °C, pressure of 20 atmosphere and space velocity of 4,000 hr-1 by using mixed catalyst of the ICIs fused iron catalyst and the Mobils ZSM 5 zeolite catalyst.
