Abstract:
The purposes of the research were to study problems and needs of school health teachers concerning health service management in secondary schools in Bangkok Metropolis, and to compare problems and needs between the two groups of school health teachers who had educational background in nursing and those who did not have educational background in nursing. Questionnaires were constructed and were sent to the population, 122 secondary school health teachers, in Bangkok Metropolis. One hundred and ten questionnaires, accounted for 90.01 percent, were returned. The data were then analyzed to obtain percentages, arithmetic means and standard deviations. The t-test was also employed to determine the significant differences at .05 level. The findings were : 1. The school health teachers had moderate problems concerning health service management in eight areas : follow up services, the health examination, the weight and height measurement and vision screening, the mental health, the health promotion for school personnel, the health service management, the nutrition and the health record except the areas of immunization, safety, and first aid were low. 2. The comparison of the problems concerning health service management between the school health teachers who had different educational backgrounds found that : 2.1 There were statistically significant differences at the level of .05 in seven areas : follow up services, the health examination, the first-aid, the weight and height measurement and vision screening, the mental health, the health promotion for school personnel and the health service management. 2.2 There were not statistically significant differences at the level of .05 in four areas : the immunization, the safety, the nutrition and the health record. 3. The school health teachers had high needs concerning health service management. 4. The comparison of the needs concerning health service management between the school health teachers who had different educational backgrounds were significantly different at the level of .05.
