Abstract:
The experimental and predicted data on emissions of major pollutants (NOx, SO2, CO2 and PM) from 150-MW and 300-MW lignite-fired boilers of the Mac Moh power plant are discussed. The effects of the excess air ratio on the above emissions as well as on thermal efficiency of the boilers were the focus of study. The measured NOx emission concentrations were found to increase with higher excess air ratio, remaining nevertheless lower than the NOx emission standard. The experimental SO2 emission concentrations downstream from FGD unit were found to be lower than the emission standard for this pollutant. CO2 emission rates were predicted with the use of the fuel-carbon and boiler fuel consumption. The PM emission rates were estimated based on the boiler fuel consumption, ash content in the fuel and efficiency of ESP units. Specific emissions (per kWh of electricity produced) for the studied pollutants were quantified for these boilers
