A study of relationships between scores of learning behaviors in mathematics obtained from teacher's rating based on factors affected learning outcomes and those from teacher made achievement tests and standardized achievement tests
Abstract:
The purpose of this study were: (a) to study the relationship among scores from teachers rating based on factors affected learning outcomes, scores from teacher made achievement test and scores from standardized achievement test; (b) to construct the multiple regression equation for predicting the students academic achievement when using the scores from standardized test as a criterion. The sample were 514 Mathayom III students randomly drawn from some schools within Educational Group II of Bangkok Metropolis and including their 12 teachers. The instruments used for collecting data were Teachers Rating Form, Teacher Made Achievement Test in Mathematics and Standardized Achievement Test in Mathematics from Educational Technique Department, Ministry of Education. The data were analyzed by using Pearsons Product Moment Correlation, Partial Correlation, Multiple Correlation and Stepwise Multiple Regression. The findings of this research were as follows: (1) There was significant positive correlation at the .01 level between each pair of the following variables: (a) scores from teachers rating based on factors affected learning outcomes and scores from teacher made achievement test. (b) scores from teachers rating based on factors affected learning outcomes and scores from standardized achievement test. (c) scores from teacher made achievement test and scores from standardized achievement test. (2) There was significant positive partial correlation at the .01 level among the following variables: (a) scores from teachers rating based on factors affected learning outcomes and scores from standardized achievement test when the scores from teacher made achievement test was constant. (b) scores from teacher made achievement test and scores from standardized achievement test when the scores from teachers rating based on factors affected learning outcomes was constant (3) There was significant positive multiple correlation at the .01 level among scores from teachers rating based on factors affected learning outcomes, scores from teacher made achievement test and scores from standardized achievement test. (4) The significant predictors of students achievement at the .05 level when using the scores from standardized test as a criterion were scores from teacher made achievement test and scores from teachers rating based on factor affected learning outcomes. The multiple regression equation in the forms of standard scores and row scores could be Z = . 5891z₂ + .2531z₁ Y = 1.5191 + .6808x₂ + .3438x₁
