Abstract:
Purposes: The purposes of this study were: 1. To investigate the interest of Prathom Suksa five students towards types of Composition writing suggested in the elementary curriculum B.E. 2521. 2. To compare the interest of Prathom Suksa five students in different educational authorities towards types of composition writing. 3. to compare the interest of Prathom Suksa five male and female students towards types of composition writing. Procedure: The instrument used in this study was the questionnaire, devided into four parts. The first part concerned the respondents background. The second part concerned the preference of 16 types of composition writing suggested in the elementary curriculum B.E. 2521. The third part concerned the ranking of the interest types of composition writing and the fourth part was the composition writing paper under the type each student chose to be the most favorite one for writing. The sample of this research were four hundred and eighty-one Prathom Suksa five students in 12 different elementary schools in Bangkok Metropolis, selected by stratified random sampling technique. After that two hundred and thirty-seven boys and two hundred and forty-four girls were selected by the simple random sampling technique. The collected data were statistically analyzed and presented in terms of percentage, means, and standard deviation. The comparison of male & female students interest was analyzed by Z-test. Findings: 1. The favorite types of composition writing selected by all students were rhyming words writing set of pictures writing and free writing, respectively. 2. There is no significant difference of the interest towards types of composition writing among majority of students in different educational authorities except the following: making sentences with words, writing different patterns of sentences, and sentences rearranging. 3. There is no difference of interest towards types of composition writing between male and female students except the following: making scrap book, finishing stories, story-telling and free writing.
