Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) to develop the information processing theory-based instruction for enhancing retention and 2) to compare the retention between before and after using the developed instruction. The sample included thirty-three Prathomsuksa 2/2 students from Banplongliam School under Samutsakorn Provincial Administrative Organization in the 2nd semester of academic year 2014 obtained through cluster random sampling. The research instruments involved information processing theory-based lesson plans and retention test. Data were statistically analyzed in Mean, standard deviation, and t-test.
The findings revealed as follows.
1. The information processing theory-based instruction for enhancing retention delineated the followings: 1) theory/principle/thoughts of model 2) objectives of the model 3) five stages of instruction stage 1 recognition; stage 2 attention; stage 3 retention; stage 4 coding; and stage 5 feedback and 4) learning outcomes.
2. The retention of those who learned through the information processing theory-based instruction was higher than that before the experiment at significance level .01.
