Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the needs for exercising services of secondary school teachers in Bangkok Metropolis. The samples were secondary school teachers of 50 schools. Questionnaires were sent to 1,000 secondary school teachers. Nine hundred and thirty of questionnaires accounted for ninety-three percent were returned. The data were, then, statistically analyzed in terms of percentages, means and standard deviations. The t-test was also employed to analyze the significant difference. It was found that the exercising services needs of secondary school teachers were : 1. The needs for exercising services were high. 2. The needs for exercising services were exercising activities, service personnel, places, equipment and facilities, physical fitness testing, theoretical knowledge, types of activities and preferred schedules for exercising. 3. The needs for exercising services in individual aspects were as follows: 3.1 The quantity of equipments were proportional to the number of users, adequate and hygienic facilities for dressing, shower, and also lockers. 3.2 The needs of service personnel were the staffs with human relation, good psychology , good knowledge of methods of instruction and understand how to organize, select, and conduct appropriate physical education activities. 3.3 The needs of preferred days for exercising were on week days. The preferred time was during 4.00-6.0 p.m. and free time. 3.4
The needs for types of activities were activities with low expense and minimal time, but useful for health. Teachers can participate the activities without skill. 3.5 The needs for exercising activities were badminton, calisthenics, and swimming. 3.6 The needs for physical fitness testing were adequate quantity of physical fitness testing equipments. 3.7 The needs of theoretical knowledge were the staffs who had knowledge in exercising for health, providing sport movies and video tape and providing instruction of how to exercise to members of different ages. 4. There was significant difference at the .05 level between the opinions of male and female teachers. 5. There was no significant difference at the .05 level between married and unmarried teachers.
