Abstract:
Objectives of the study: The purpose of the research is to study the educational supervision needs of administrators and teachers in schools offering functional continuing education (Level 3-4), Bangkok Metropolis, regarding general operations and academic dimensions relative to curriculum, subject matter, teaching methods, instructional activities, instructional materials and measurement and evaluation. Procedures: The researcher constructed the questionnaires by studying related documents and research findings relative to functional continuing education, level 3-4. Upon recommendations, perusal and corrections from the advisor and 8 experts, the questionnaires were administered to administrators, staff and teachers. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 470 subjects. Three-hundred-and-ninety-nine valid questionnaires or 84.89% were returned. The questionnaire contained survey items, rating scales and open-ended questions. The data were analyzed by using percentage, means, standard deviations and frequencies. Conclusions: 1. Needs regarding general operations of supervision. The overall needs of administrators and staff were at the middle level except for some items where the needs were high, financial accounting, purchasing regulations and in-service teachers training. 2. Needs regarding academic supervision. The results from the data analysis indicated that in general the administrators and teachers, notwithstanding teaching levels, past experiences in training or not, all possessed high needs for supervision in all aspects, namely, curriculum, subject matter, teaching methods, instructional activities, instructional materials and measurement and evaluation.
