Abstract:
This thesis aimed to propose instructional guidelines for art education thesis course undergraduate level. The study is a mixed method research design. The population included; 1. Art programs offering art education thesis courses in 3 universities in Thailand consisting of; 1) Art Education Division, Department of Art, Music and Dance Education, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University, 2) Art Education Division, Faculty of Education, Khonkaen University and; 3) Art Education Division, Faculty of Education, Prince of Songkla University; 2. Instructors and/or art education thesis course coordinators in the 3 universities; 3. Art education thesis advisors and; 4. Instructors in art education division in universities not offering art education thesis course. The research instruments included a structured interview and a document synthesis form. The results revealed 2 models of desired art education thesis in higher educational institutions in Thailand as follows. Model 1: Research for creating artworks and teaching innovation for art education, focusing on theoretical investigation, studies, techniques and processes, contextual information associated with a research topic, leading to the creation of educational benefits. Model 2: Research of creative works focused on in-depth investigation of art works, leading to analyzing theories of creation, relevant basic information and techniques of creativity. The second model applied research methodologies as tools to explore creative work in details, building new body of knowledge, guidelines for creativity and innovation beneficial to educational field
