Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to study the use of theses in fifteen libraries and central library of Chulalongkorn University in terms of user's objectives, methods of accessing theses, majors of theses, years of publication, and problems in using theses, first semester, l990. The questionnaire was used to gather data during August - September, l990. The returned rate of the questionnaire was 485 from the sample (91.51 percent). The results of this study indicated that the majority of theses users was the graduate students. They used theses majoring in business administration, and used the theses associated to their majors at the 0.05 level of significance. They used theses for their writing reports, for writing their theses and preparing for their examination. The frequencies in using theses were uncertain. They used theses of academic years during 1986-1989 and inquired the theses title by using theses card catalog. Eventually, they use theses in terms of abtracts . The major problem which was rated at the strong agreement is less theses of other universities. The moderate agreement problems respectively are: users can not pick up the theses from the shelves by themselves, users can not borrow the theses out of the libraries, the new theses were put on the shelves lately, the number of theses are less for servicing, there are less of carrell, and there is only one copy of theses
