Abstract:
The research aimed to analyze the current conditions, problems and needs for a database of herbs for consumption and medicines
in Uparat village, to design appropriate learning activities about the behavior of herbal utilization for sustainable household consumption, and to synthesize the practical wisdom processes of herbs for sustainable household consumption in Uparat village. The target group of 47 people (the quantitative data) was specifically selected from the group discussion and interview, and target group (the qualitative data) of 27 people was specifically selected from focus groups and interviews. The instruments were a questionnaire,
a survey form, an interview form, and an assessment form. The focus group method was employed for the research. Data were analyzed using quantitative Descriptive statistics and data analysis using qualitative content analysis. Research
results were as follows: There were 64 families and 140 kinds of herbs for food production in the community. The study showed that
the suitable learning activities of herbs consisted of three major activities with five sub-activities. The findings indicated that the overall appropriateness of all activities was at the highest level (x- = 4.52, S.D. = 1.06). The processes of analysis and synthesis of herbs for sustainable household consumption and was to encourage people to improve the knowledge of herbs based on their previous knowledge. Learning activities were designed to develop the knowledge and practical use of herbs in the community including the traditional herbal use in their daily life. Additionally, there were appropriate activities in preserving and promoting herbs in the community. The study showed the relations between people and the natural in balance.
