Abstract:
The purposes of the study were to analyze appreciative and applicative reason behind the
concept of studentcentered in Thailand based on philosophical research method such as arguments and
exchange of ideas. The results showed that the concept of studentcentered and practice in Thailand
was in postmodernism because each learner was regarded to have different characteristics. Therefore,
the teaching approaches should be different. With this academic point of view; however, some disputants
claimed that the concept of studentcentered in Thailand was not in postmodernism according
to the following reasons: 1) the concept of student centered did not accomplish in postmodernism,
2) the studentcentered concept was a discourse emphasized on the social target rather than the learners target, and 3) there were some actions that conveyed the problems of the implementation of postmodernism concept in practice.
However, the researcher found weaknesses in the arguments of the disputants regarded the following
reasons: 1) studentcentered concept was the approach emphasized on rights and freedom, 2)
Its purpose was to make people to be excellent, good, and happy, and 3) All of the relevant persons
should be encouraged to realize the importance of studentcentered concept in practical usage
that the accomplishment should be achieved. The results of this research can be applied for the
teaching management under studentcentered concept in Thailand to be in accordance with postmodernism.
