Abstract:
The purposes of this study were 1) toanalyse the history and arts of Cambodian heritage
from ancient remains along a royal road appearedin Thailand, 2) to analyse multimedia types used to
present the history and arts of Cambodian heritage,and 3) to design a multimedia knowledge package
for learning Cambodian heritage to display in exhibition room at Southern Isan Cultural Centre.
The findings revealed that the content analysis on the royal road in overall consisted of
resource dimension, social dimension and symbol dimension. Cambodian arts found in the ancient
remains along the royal road depicted in symbols which comprised four dimensions: chronicle, literature,
beliefs and religions. When all symbols were analysed with visual arts principles, it caused the
ideas of multimedia designing by using signs. The findings on multimedia types that were suitable
for six aspects were as follows: 1) The aspect of physical features depicting structures and routes
suited multimedia types on symbols and maps of locations, 2) the aspect of history depicting narration
suited graphic and animation presentation along with audio description, 3) the aspect of
architectural diagrams depicting imagination suited graphic using together with two dimensions of
location setting with alphabets, 4) the aspect of decorative patterns depicting the beautiful shapes
suited still pictures and animation presentation, 5) the aspect of narrative illustration expressing
emotion suited strip images and animation presentation, and 6) the aspect of sculpture showing
imitation suited replica with alphabets presentation. When all multimedia types were created, they
were then displayed as a multimedia knowledge package in the exhibition room at the Center for
Lower Northeastern Art and Culture.
