Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to investigate the science information resources that science teachers utilized in science instruction and the utilization of any kinds of science information for science instruction of science teachers. The instruments consisted of a questionnaire and a framework interview form that the researcher constructed. The subjects were science teachers who were teaching in secondary schools in Bangkok Metropolis. Those subjects were consisted of 337 teachers for answering the questionnaire, and 32 teachers for and an interview. The obtained data were analyzed by means of percentage, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation, then presented in table and descriptive forms. The results of the research were as follows: 1. The information resources used at the high level were private collections and informal conversation with staffs. 2. The sorts of science information used at the high level were textbooks, and teacher manuals. 3. The majority of science teachers used textbooks, teacher manuals, science exercises, books that gave the answers to any entrance examination, video, charts, and pictures to plan and make lesson plans. They used those materials in the following purposes: to prepare questions to ask students, to study in order to provide instructional handouts, to be examples in their explanation or giving lectures to students, to be examples of lessons and to demonstrate some experiments which were difficult and might be dangerous, and to be the questions and solutions in measurement and evaluation.
