Abstract: จุดมุ่งหมายของการวิจัยครั้งนี้เพื่อศึกษาความต้องการใช้บริการฯในด้านวัตถุประสงค์ของการใช้ สาขาวิชา ประเภทของสิ่งพิมพ์ ภาษา และความทันสมัยของสิงพิมพ์ และศึกษาความแตกต่างระหว่างความต้องการของผู้ใช้บริการคัดเลือกเผยแพร่สารนิเทศกับขนาดของธุรกิจและอุตสาหกรรมโดยการส่งแบบสอบถามไปยังกลุ่มตัวอย่างสมาชิกประเภทเอกชนของกองสนเทศวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีจำนวน 301 ฉบับ ได้รับแบบสอบ ถามกลับคืน 211 ฉบับ คิดเป็นร้อยละ 70.10 ผลของการวิจัยปรากฏว่า วัตถุประสงค์ของความต้องการใช้บริการคัดเลือกเผยแพร่สารนิเทศ เพื่อนำมาใช้ในงานที่รับผิดชอบและปฏิบัติประจำวัน ได้แก่ การทราบเทคโนโลยีและความรู้ใหม่ๆ ซึ่งนำมาใช้ในงานค้นคว้าวิจัย และงานแก้ไขปัญหาทางเทคนิค การปรับปรุงสินค้าหรือผลิตภัณฑ์ การมีความคิดริเริ่มใหม่ ๆ การทราบแนวโน้มของธุรกิจและอุตสาหกรรมและการทราบมาตรฐาน กฎ ข้อกำหนดที่เกิดขึ้นใหม่ๆ สารนิเทศที่ ต้องการในระดับมาก คือ วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีในสาขาวิชาเคมี และผลิตภัณฑ์เคมี ประเภทของ สิงพิมพ์ ที่ผู้ใช้ต้องการในระดับมาก คือ วารสาร วารสารสาระสังเขปที่มีผู้ใช้ต้องการในระดับมากคือ Chemical Abstracts ผู้ใช้ต้องการสารนิเทศในระดับมากเป็นภาษาต่างประเทศ (อังกฤษ) และเป็นสิงพิมพ์ในปีปัจจุบัน ความแตกต่างระหว่างความต้องการใช้บริการคัดเลือกเผยแพร่สารนิเทศกับขนาดของธุรกิจและอุตสาหกรรมทั้ง 3 ขนาด ไม่พบค่าแตกต่างทางสถิติ

Abstract: Two purposes of this research are, firstly, to study the needs of users in business and industrial sectors for SDI service in the topic of objectives and field, type of document, language and currency of document, secondly, to study between the need of business and industrial users of variety sizes. Questionnaires were distributed to 301 agencies’ member of Division of Scientific and Technological Information and 211 were returned (70.10%). The result appeared that the objectives of users of SDI service are for their routine work, to keep pace with new technologies and current news and to solve their working j problems, to improve products, to creak new idea, to be informed business and industry trends and new standard, law and specification. They need scientific and technological information in chemistry and chemical products in high level. They need SDI service from journals. Abstracting journal needs is Chemical Abstracts. Information delivered in full text is the most needed. The comparison between the need of business and industrial users and variety sizes is so little that there is no significant difference among the group of user.
