An analysis of drawing-paintings of seven to nine year old orphans in child welfare homes under the jurisdiction of Public Welfare Department, Ministry of Interior
Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to analyze the drawing-paintings of seven to nine year old orphans in child welfare homes under the jurisdiction of Public Welfare Department, Ministry of Interior.
The population included 63 children of seven to nine year old orphans in child welfare homes: 30 children from Ban Pakkred and 33 children from Ban Rajvithi.
The research instrument was a drawing-paintings analysis checklist based on the Artistic Development Theory of Viktor Lowenfeld and was administered by the researcher. The obtained data was finally analyzed by a group of 5 art educators.
The findings of this research indicated that the expressions of seven to nine year old orphans in child welfare homes under the jurisdiction of Public Welfare Department, Ministry of Interior, showed their performances of the Human Figure, the Space and the Design in the Schematic Stage of the Artistic Development Theory of Viktor Lowenfeld. However, in the aspect of the color was not in the Schematic Stage.
The details of these expression were as follows:
1. Human Figure : 100% of the orphans drawings showed the looking straight forwards and 49.21% of the children showed the geometric forms.
2. Space : 82.54% of the orphans drawings showed two dimensions and 23.81% of them showed the x-ray.
3. Color : 38.10% of the orphans drawings showed both the same colors for the same objects and the expression of their own colors.
4. Design : 68.25% of the orphans drawings showed the displaying repeated drawings design schema.
