Abstract:
The present study aims to examine problems about security at work in 3 aspects, i.e. operation behavior, machine, and environment. This is a qualitative research. The data were collected from in-depth interviewing with 20 production employees and 10 executives. Then content analysis was conducted to investigate the problems about security at work in 3 aspects, i.e. operation behavior, machine, and environment. In addition, cause of problems and prevention and improvement for accidents at work were discovered. The findings on behavior suggested that employees did not follow the instructions because of time constrain. The solution was to organize a training on safety at work or the on-thejob training. Process of operation should be revised and practical. For the machine, the most frequent problem was no safeguard which was dangerous. The machines were usually bought with no safeguard. Another problem was about the design of the safeguard. There was hole which allow a hand or a part of body to reach the machine. The solution was to set a new check up for new machine that follow the security regulations. The safety team may need to participate as a cross functional team. There should be a shop floor management as for observing the operation area. The environmental problem was about the bad odor in the production line. The cause was from the metalworking fluid was out-of-date. There should be a fix schedule to renew the metal working fluid. Another environmental problem was about lighting. There were many lights needed to be fixed. There should be a check-up and renovation for area with not enough light. The area monitoring should be conducted in accordance with law.
