Abstract:
The objective of this research is to map geological features of tourist attractions in
Chanthaburi province, Thailand. Geographic Information System (GIS) and field survey were
used to analyze the physical feature, rock feature and soil feature. And finally, maps of shale
geology and soil groups were created.
The results revealed that the landforms of tourist attractions were identified into coasts,
islands, mountains, tidal flats, waterfalls, hot springs, water bodies and caves. The shale geology
were classified into 16 categories based on the rock structure, such as Noen Phu Yai Yue
formation, Pong Nam Ron formation, Beach and Barrior Deposits, Mangrove Tidal Deposits, and
Granite rock. Some types of landforms tourist attractions may have a variety of stone structure
feature, such as waterfalls may have both sand and granite. Additionally, soil groups were also
identified into 48 groups based on analysis soil groups data, such as Hua Hin series, Tha Chin
series, Bacho series, Khlong Teng series, and Slope Complex. This information is used to analyze
for mapping of geological features of tourist attractions in Chanthaburi province, Thailand.
