Abstract:
This research aimed to study the effectiveness of platelet rich plasma on reducing wrinkles in the Nasolabial folds, as well as assessing side effects and satisfaction with this kind of treatment which would be potentially an alternative to dealing with facial wrinkles. Firstly, 21 persons with facial wrinkles were recruited to participate in the study. These participants were treated with the injection of platelet rich plasma in the nasolabial folds on both left and right sides for only one time. The post treatment follow-up was scheduled on the second week, the fourth week, and the eighth week. The Rao-Goldman 5-point visual scoring scale was used by doctors not involving in the research to measure the reduction of eye wrinkles, and the Visioscan®SV600 was used to measure the wrinkle scales. The results of the study revealed that platelet rich plasma could decrease wrinkles with a statistical significance, either by using the Rao-Goldman 5-point visual scoring scale (p-value > 0.05), or the Visioscan®SV600 (p-value > 0.05). With regard to side effects, the treatment did not impose severe side-effects. In addition, most research participants were satisfied with this kind of treatment.
