Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to: 1) study the present situation and needs on developing student activity management system 2) develop and evaluate the participatory training program for developing student activity management system of educational institutes under the Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) and 3) develop and evaluate the efficiency of the training curriculum for developing student activity management system of educational institutes under OVEC. The target group of the research included 69 deputy directors of student affairs, 75 heads of activity affairs, and 150 student activity consultant teachers totally making 249 samples to give the information on present situation and needs on developing participatory training program for developing student activity management system. The data were used to develop training program with the results concluded as follows.
1. The findings from the survey of present situation and the needs on developing participatory training program for developing student activity management system revealed that the present situation was in moderate level. According to the practical planning process, the necessity was on personality development and social responsibility with the ranking process of 1 to 10 of which 5 of them were used to develop good persons and other 5 for smart persons.
2. Participatory training program for developing student activity management system consisted of input aspect, process aspect, and output aspect. The input aspect included: 1) the committee of student activity management, 2) the committee of student activity evaluation, 3) student activity consultant teachers, 4) student activity committee, 5) rules and regulations, budget, resources, materials, and venues, and 6) activity plan for developing good and smart students. The process aspect consisted of: 1) personality and social responsibility development plan, 2) sport and recreation plan, 3) moral and etiquette development plan, 4) religious and cultural development plan, and 5) natural conservative activities. Smart person plan consisted of 5 activities, i.e. 1) professional development plan, 2) creative idea encouragement plan, 3) integrated learning encouragement plan, 4) academic activity encouragement plan, and 5) developing students to international standard achievement. The output aspect consisted of 6 sub-characteristics for good persons, i.e. 1) good personality, 2) discipline and social responsibility, 3) beautiful mind with democratic belief, 4) ethic and moral, 5) socializing, and 6) work for public. sub-characteristics of smart persons were: 1) skills and professional competency, 2) creativity, 3) scientific skill, 4) foreign language, 5) catching up with modern technology, and 6) autonomous learner. Characteristics of happy persons included healthy, cheerful, strong mind, happy with learning and working, optimistic, good human relationship, and free-from-vice virtue. The management model was evaluated by 9 specialists with very high appropriateness.
3. Pisit and Terapol Curriculum Development Model was applied. The training curriculum consisted of 4 topics, i.e. 1) participatory training program of developing student activity management system, 2) strategic planning to develop good persons and smart persons, 3) project writing, and 4) project report. The duration of the training program was 12 hours for 2 days with face-to-face lecturing. The evaluation of the training program showed that the training program was very appropriate with the efficiency value E1/E2 at 84.22/ 83.22 higher than the set criteria at 80/80 and the practical achievement of 89.94 higher the set criteria of 75%. The follow up study by questionnaire showed that the management team reported high satisfaction on the trained activity counseling teachers. Moreover, the students were satisfied with their trained activity counseling teachers at very high level.
