Abstract:
Currently, the popularity of mobile phones has increased. However, the impact of mobile phone usage has been found to have the effects on human brain waves. And from the current usage of the current line of applications, which is considered a convenient channel and easy to use. So people in all age groups turn to use line applications more and more.
Objective - To study the changes of brainwaves when using a smartphone call via the application line with Brainwave Visualizer.
Material and Methods - This study was conducted in 10 male and female volunteers aged 25-35 years. Three types of study were conducted: Type 1, 4G mobile phone call reception. Type 2, using calls with line application over the 4G network and type 3, using calls with line application via the Wi-Fi network. Each of which will measure the brainwaves by MindWaveTM Mobile and interpret with the Brainwave visualizer program. Subjects measure brainwave activity during making a call and after a phone call with various trials for 10, 20 and 30 minutes. Each sequence of brainwaves is analyzed and statistically calculated using statistical method, Repeated-measures ANOVA.
Results - Delta and Theta brain waves were statistically significant increase in all three trials. Alpha brain waves were significantly increased when using a smart phone call over a regular 4G network. And beta brainwave, the results showed that the values were significantly increased when using a smartphone call over a regular 4G network and using calls with line application over the 4G network. In addition, changing in gamma brain waves was significantly higher when receiving calls with line application over the 4G network.
Conclusion - The using of smartphone call over a regular 4G network shows increasing in delta, alpha and beta brain waves, rather than using of smartphone call via the line application. When compared using of smartphone call via the line application. The use of 4G networks has resulted in an increase in delta, theta, beta and gamma brain waves. But using calls with line application via the Wi-Fi network, resulting in increased delta and theta brain waves only.
