Abstract:
The objectives of this research are to study the information seeked by 263 Mathayom suksa VI students for making decision in selection faculties to pursue higher education; the information channels and information sources chosen to seek information, and the satisfaction about information received from those sources. In addition, the problems and the ways to solve the problems are studied as well. The research findings are that most of the information the students seek in order to help them select faculties is social information. The students themselves and guidance teacher are the first two significant information sources due to the cause that both sources can give relevant information that help making decision and the received information is easy to understand. The students are much satisfied with the information gained from these sources. In the case of problems in information seeking, lack of information they need and lack of counselors who can give some useful advices are the first two problems. Result from this study are implementable for the guidance teachers and school librarians in the secondary schools to collect and manage information, as well as to arrange some activities related to continuing education in order to respond to the needs of the students.
