Abstract:
The study entitledAttitudes of Faculty of Management Sciences Students towards
Advisory System, Faculty of Management Sciences, Yala Rajabhat University, aimed to inquire
the students attitudes towards Advisory System of Faculty of Management Sciences, Yala
Rajabhat University. It also examined the differences of students demographic characteristics
and students attitudes towards advisory system.
The respondents of this survey research consisted of 392 full-time programme
students from 7 different departments, Faculty of Management Sciences, which are
Department of Accounting, Department of Marketing, Department of Management,
Department of Business Computer, Department of Communication Arts, Department of
Tourism and Department of Economics. The instrument used for collecting data was
questionnaires. The data was statistically analyzed by mean, standard deviation, t-test and Ftest
with SPSS programme.
The finding of this study showed that most of the participants are female. The
common age of the participant ranges from 20-15. The most frequent major is from Accounting
and most students consulted their lecturers more than four times in each semester.
Overall, the students attitudes towards the current advisory system in all
perspectives are in the level of good. Their attitudes toward advisor practice are in the level
of excellent. In term of frequency, they point out that the students should consult their
advisor much more than four times in each semester. The participants satisfy with the
advisory setting as the result shown in the level of good. They also satisfy with the
appropriateness of the advisors allocated by university. The participants support the advisory
system website.
The comparisons of demographic characteristics and students attitudes towards
advisory system can be concluded that:
1. There is no difference between male and female students attitudes towards
the characteristics of the current advisors and advisor practice. Regarding the advisory
setting on the registration day, female students have more positive attitude than male
students. On the other hand, both male and female students have the same attitude on
advisory setting after advisory setting, mid-term test, before the final examination.
2. The diversity between student ages does not cause any differences on
attitudes towards the characteristics of the current advisors, advisor practice and advisory
setting.
3. The diversity between student majors causes different view on attitudes
towards the characteristics of the current advisors, advisor practice and advisory setting.
4. Students attitudes towards the characteristics of the current advisors, advisor practice
and advisory setting differ from the frequency of consulting.
