Opinion of students and instructors concerning teaching and learning of design and composition course at the certificate level, printing division, Rajamankala Institute of Technology, Bangkok Technical Campus
Abstract:
The purpose of the research was to study the opinions of students and instructors concerning teaching and learning of design and compostion course : 1. Objectives and contents 2. Teaching 3. Media and instruction materials 4. Evaluation 5. Application to printed materials design The population of this research were 146 students and 19 instructors in Printing Division, Rajamankala Institute of Technology, Bangkok Technical Campus. A questionnaire consisting of checklists, rating scales and open-ended questions was used as a tool of the research. Data were analyzed by means of percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation. The results of this research revealed that 1. Objectives and contents of subject; the students highly agreed that the course objectives are accordant with the objectives of industrial vocational curriculum at the certificate level, and the instructors highly agreed that the course description is consistently with its objectives. 2. Teaching; the students and instructors highly agreed that the instructors should study the curriculum before teaching. 3. Media and instructional materials; the students highly agreed that media and instruction materials used were suitable for the contents of design and composition course, and the instructors also highly agreed that media and instruction materials could help the students to better understanding. 4. Evaluation ; the students and instructors highly agreed that the instructors should inform the results of evaluation to the students every time. 5. Application to printed materials design; the students highly agreed that knowledges as skills could be applied to art work design; and the instructor highly agreed that students could select the proper color for any printing system, and they could also apply the design and composition course contents to other related courses.
