Abstract:
From one hundred and fourteen bacteria isolated from water and soil samples, ten isolates which resist up to 1 ppm of furazolidone were obtained. The fast growing bacteria, CK, was chosen to add the resistance to ampicillin or tetracycline or chloramphenicol by plasmid transformation. All four CK strains at 1x106 CFU/ml were inhibited by 0.1 ppm furazolidone. Bacteria were tested with standard furazolidone at 0.05, 0.1 and 0.5 ppm, including other antibiotics, synergistic effect of furazolidone and antibiotics were found. In animal feed, furazolidone was absorbed into the feed by 86%. 14% remained furazolidone was tested and gave the same result as previously tested. The result shown that the limit of detection is 0.1 ppm in animal feed and could be applied as an effective furazolidone detection kit.
