Abstract: วิทยานิพนธ์นี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา 1) การใช้และความพึงพอใจของผู้ใช้ที่มีต่อโครงสร้างฐานข้อมูลการแสดงผลข้อมูล ศัพท์ดรรชนี และเวลาที่ใช้ในการค้นคืน 2) ประสิทธิภาพของระบบการจัดเก็บและค้นคืน 3) ปัญหาในการใช้บริการของผู้ใช้บริการสืบค้นสารนิเทศข้อมูลงานวิจัย สมมติฐานของการวิจัยมีดังนี้ 1) ผู้ใช้มีความพึงพอใจต่อโครงสร้างฐานข้อมูลและการแสดงผลข้อมูล 2) การค้นคืนด้วยศัพท์อิสระต้องใช้เวลาในการค้นมาก 3) ถ้าค่า Recall มีค่าสูง ค่า Precision จะต่ำ และถ้าค่า Recall มีค่าต่ำ ค่า Precision จะสูง และ 4) สาขางานวิจัยในฐานข้อมูลสนองความต้องการของผู้ใช้ได้ในระดับปานกลาง การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ มีเครื่องมือประกอบด้วย ฐานข้อมูลงานวิจัยที่ใช้โปรแกรม BRS/Search Release 6.1 จำนวน 6,887 ระเบียน แบ่งเป็น 10 สาขาวิชา แบบประเมินผล แบบฟอร์มการใช้บริการ คู่มือการสืบค้นและตารางคำค้น กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการประเมินฐานข้อมูลมี 4 กลุ่ม คือ อาจารย์ 17 คน นักวิจัย 20 คน ข้าราชการ 38 คน และนิสิตระดับปริญญาโท 30 คน รวม 105 คน ผลการวิจัยพบว่าผู้ประเมินส่วนใหญ่มีความคิดเห็นและความพึงพอใจต่อโครงสร้างฐานข้อมูลในระดับมาก ส่วนรูปแบบการแสดงผลข้อมูลทางหน้าจอ และการแสดงผลทางเครื่องพิมพ์ผู้ประเมินมีความพึงพอใจในระดับปานกลาง การค้นคืนด้วยศัพท์อิสระพบว่าใช้เวลาน้อย ส่วนการหาความสัมพันธ์ของค่า Recall และค่า Precision ปรากฏว่ามีความสัมพันธ์กันในทางเดียวกัน คือถ้าค่า Recall มีค่าสูง ค่า Precision จะสูงตาม สำหรับสาขางานวิจัยที่แบ่งไว้ 10 สาขาวิชา ผู้ประเมินมีความพึงพอใจในระดับปานกลาง

Abstract: The objectives of this thesis were to study : 1) the uses and users satisfaction of database structure, display format, index term, and time in retrieving ; 2) the efficiency of information storage and retrieval system ; and 3) problems in retrieving information from the research database. The hypotheses were : 1) the users are satisfied with the database structure and display format ; 2) the retrieving with free terms needs long period of time ; 3) if the recall value is high the precision value is low or vise versa ; and 4) the research subjects in database support the users’ needs at moderate level. The survey research method was employed in this thesis. The instruments used were : research database containing 6,887 records in ten subjects, and the questionnaire. The sampling population totaled 105, consisting of 17 lecturers, 20 researchers, 38 officials and 30 graduate students. The research results showed that most users were satisfied with the database structure at high level, while they were satisfied with the display format and printing format at moderate level. The time used in retrieving with free terms was 14 minutes in average which is rather short. The relation between the recall value and precision value was found in the same direction, that is if the recall value is high the precision value would also be high too. The users were satisfied with the division of 10 subjects at moderate level.
