Abstract:
The purpose of this research are to study information seeking of clinical medical students concerning purposes, methods, sources, types, languages and problems of information seeking in Bangkok Metropolis. The hypothesis is information seeking of clinical medical students varies with years for purposes, methods, sources, types and languages. Three hundred and twenty four questionnaires were distributed to clinical medical students of 5 faculties in Bangkok Metropolis. The total number of 252 usable responses in 80.25% of population. The data were analyzed by the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS). The results found that the purpose in information seeking is discussion and seminar in classroom. Primary information sources used were Faculty of Medicine libraries, teachers/specialists and medical columns in newspapers. Institutional information sources are considered the most useful for them. The most convenient and the nearest location are the reasons for seeking information. Searching from card catalogs, asking residents, asking friends and watching television are the primary information seeking methods. The information type is Thai course document. Languages are Thai and English. The research results agree and disagree with hypothesis. Problems in information seeking are lack of time for seeking information, office hour of the libraries, no time for consultant and not knowing about TV or radio program.
