Abstract:
Studies the readiness of lower secondary school science teachers in school curriculum development in the science strand, Bangkok Metropolis. The sample used in this research were 308 lower secondary school science teachers. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed by percentage, arithmetic mean, mean of percentage and standard deviation. The research findings were summarized as follow: 1. Knowledge of science teachers in school curriculum, science strand was at the high level. When in each area, knowledge of science teachers in learning standards and science strands was at the high level, but knowledge in goals and vision of science instructions was at the low level; regarding to the knowledge in school curriculum development process it was at the should improve level. When in each area, Knowledge of science teachers in goal setting of the curriculum was at the low level, but knowledge in the determination of contents, learning activity, curriculum implementation and curriculum evaluation were at the should improve level. 2. Most schools prepared science teachers for school curriculum development by conferences, seminars and workshops. The organization of science teacher's preparation in school curriculum development mainly was the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology. The knowledge and skill's science teachers need to improve for developing school curriculum were science lesson planning and learning unit integration. Most science teachers used the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology as main resource. The problems of science teachers in school curriculum development were work load and not enough time in preparation.
