Abstract:
This study has the objective to propose an efficient division of urban planning addministration of Bangkok Metropolis which is corresponding to development plan for future Bangkok Metropolis. In this study, the Bangkok area is divided into administrative units based on the common characteristics and correlation in the area. To analyze the urban structure which is appropriate to future urban growth direction as stated in the Bangkok Comprehensive Plan (first revised version), the different urban land utilization units map was overlayed with the public utility and facility map. The urban land utilizations consist of land conservation area, city center area, residential area, rural and agricultural conservation area, and rural area. The public utility and facility consist of flood prevention, garbage disposal, water contamination treatment, public transport, public health, and education. In dividing urban planning administration unit, a consideration of suitable geographic and zoning measures should be taken into account. The study found that the urban planning administration of Bangkok Metropolis can be divided into 13 units which are geographically suitable as well as corresponding to future urban structure in harmonization with the public utility and facility administration of Bangkok Metropolis. Findings of the study can be summarized as policy implication that in preparations of detailed planning, budget, including public utility and facility administration should be based on the 13 urban planning administration units of Bangkok Metropolis as defined in this study.
