Effects of using learning logs on science learning achievement and retention, and the satisfaction of writing learning logs of lower secondary school students
Abstract:
To study 1) science learning achievement of lower secondary student learning by using learning logs 2) retention of lower secondary students learning by using learning logs 3) satisfaction on writing learning logs of lower secondary students learning by using learning logs 4) compare science learning achievement between the groups learning by using and non-using learning logs and 5) compare retention between the groups learning by using and non-using learning logs. The samples were two groups of mathayom suksa one students of Sri-Ayudhya school devided into two groups : an experimental group with 56 students and controlled group with 56 students, learning by using and non-using learning logs respectively. The research instruments were 1) a science learning achievement test. The difficulty level were 0.15-0.75, the discriminative level were 0.20-0.70 and the reliability was 0.83 2) an questionnairs for surveying students' satisfaction on writing learning logs and 3) the interview form for surveying students' satisfaction on writing learning logs. The collected data were analyzed by means of arithmetic, mean, standard deviation, mean of percentage, t-test and content analysis. The research finding were summarized as follows 1. The average score of science learning achievement of the students learning by using learning logs was lower then criteria of 70%. 2. The student was learning by using learning logs have retention of learning. 3. Generally, satisfaction of the students on writing learning logs was at the medium level, 4. The science learning achievement of students learning by using learning logs was not different from those learning by non-using learning logs at the 0.05 level of significance. 5. The retention of students learning by using learning logs was different from those learning by non-using learning logs at the 0.05 level of significance.
