Abstract:
This research would like to study the procedure that separates the producer from the means of production due to capitalism. The information was collected by interview the workers and the people who related to process of elephant nourishing such as mahout; large, medium, small elephant owners; and politicians. This study would like to prove that the capitalism have established the conditions that separate the producer from the means of production. As a result, there are conflicts between the capital and the labour; and then they lead to the various ways of class struggle. This study found that the capital and the state have roles to change the elephant nourishing process in Surin province. To accumulate capital, there are expansions of tourism and forestry. That causes the changes from the elephant nourishing process to the large industry at the present. The evidence of this event can be seen from the continous increase in the trend of elephant feeding. Moreover, this situation is brought by the capitalists taking opportunism over the employees by rewarding and strict punishment. For example, the capitalists pay wages to their employees lower than the standard pay rate, pay tips rather than wages, reproach, take violent actions to their employees. Futhermore, this research found there are two reasons why the workers working for the capital and the state in this industry are only mahouts and small elephant owners. Firstly, the mahouts do not own the means of productions. Therefore, they have to work for the capital. In addition, althought the small elephant owners have some means of production, the capitalism does not provide the opportunity for them to compete in the market. Therefore, the small owners must bring their elephant to roam in the city or to work with state in high restriction. This situatiion bring about a clue of conflicts between the social classes, i.e. the workers either as the individuals or loosely-organized groups have to fight against the capitalists and the state. Although the struggles are weak and acattered, these are parts of class struggle which is dynamic.
