Abstract:
Human nose is responsible to separate types and quantities of chemical odour. There is an ability limit of the human nose according to tired of the system and toxic, which it always cause the error. Thus electronic nose has been developed to solve these problems. The advantage of electronic nose is design in the terms of quality control, classify the physical and chemical which human nose cannot do it. Moreover, electronic nose has high reliable accuracy and can perform in the condition of heavy duty.
This research has been studied and developed the electronic nose to measure the gradient chemical odour. This system is design based on metal oxide gas sensor (MOS) and gas chromatography technique to measure the quantity of volatile organic compound (VOCs). Four types of VOCs that consists of Methanol, Ethanol, Propanol and MiBK, are tested in this system.
The experiment quantitative measured of Methanol, Ethanol, Propanol and MiBK, are concentrate between 0.01 0.2 % in the water environment condition. The result shows that it can achieve to separate and provides the measure accuracy the Methanol is 67.66%, Ethanol is 64.67%, Propanal is 59.12% and MiBK is 62.38%.
