Abstract:
Cellulites are a skin disorder that has an impact on mental health and quality of life of many women. Currently, there are many methods that used in the treatment of cellulite. This study was aimed to determine the efficacy of cellulite cream containing caffeine and carnitine in conjugation with massaging or radio frequency (RF) device on the treatment of cellulite, in women volunteers who had cellulite and lived in Bangkok area. Twenty volunteers were selected and divided into 2 groups of treatment, the first group they were subjected to the massaging with cellulite cream containing caffeine and carnitine and placebo cream and in another group they were subjected to the RF device on the thigh area. The results showed that volunteers who subjected to the massaging with cellulite cream containing caffeine and carnitine had lower thigh diameter than another thigh with placebo cream (p < 0.001), and volunteers who subjected to the RF device with cellulite cream containing caffeine and carnitine also had lower thigh diameter than another thigh with placebo cream (p < 0.001). When comparing between the two techniques, the efficacy were not significant different. These two techniques also had low impact on volunteers weight, BMY, fat weight and skin elasticity. This study suggested that cellulite cream containing caffeine and carnitine can synergistically increase the treatment efficacy with massaging and RF device techniques.
